Takeley 10K with 1 mile Children's Fun Run
The Takeley 10K is an annual village road race held in Takeley that returns on 6 September 2026. The route is described as a scenic course that begins along the Old Disused Railway Track and finishes at the Takeley Silver Jubilee Hall. The event includes a separate one mile children's fun run.
The organisers set a maximum of 600 entries for the 10K and reported 417 finishers in 2025. All 10K competitors wear timing chips and receive an accurate finish time report; every finisher also receives a unique finishers' medal and a technical t-shirt included with entry. Entry fees are listed as £20 for the 10K with no entries on the day, and a minimum £2 charitable donation for the children's and families fun run, payable on the day.
The race began in 2010 to raise funds for refurbishment of the Silver Jubilee Hall and Social Club. Two phases of refurbishment were completed, including improvements to electrics, plumbing, insulation, air re-circulating, doors, toilets and a new entrance area linked to the social club. The event is supported by local volunteers, community groups and sponsors who provide marshalling, water stations, registration and event services.
