T-Rex Triathlon & Duathlon series
The T-Rex Series comprises three race days at Island Lake Recreation Area in Brighton, Michigan: Triceratops on June 24, 2026; Pterodactyl on July 22, 2026; and T-Rex on August 19, 2026. The course is described as fast and scenic and is used for both triathlon and duathlon events.
Distances
- Triathlon: 0.5 mile swim, 12.4 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
- Duathlon: 1.5 mile run, 12.4 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
Race day packet pick-up and late registration take place at the race site from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Participants must pick up their own packet; packets may not be collected on behalf of others. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for this event.
Awards include individual event overall awards for men and women, age group awards three deep in five year age groups, and a series pint glass prize. Age group awards are based on chip timing; overall awards use gun time. Additional rules: participants are assigned to swim waves, drafting is not permitted, headphones are prohibited on bike and run portions, and participants must be at least 14 years old and will turn 15 before December 31 of the year.
The series also features a club championship points system, a memorial KP Strong award with an annual donation to cancer research, and other series prizes and trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
