Night Edition - Sydney Trail Half Marathon
The Sydney Trail Half Marathon - Night Edition is a point-to-point trail running event that takes place after sunset. The course covers a distance of 21.1 km through the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. This route features an elevation gain of 556 metres and a loss of 556 metres.
The terrain consists of a variety of surfaces, including technical single tracks, fire trails, and waterfront sections. The course begins at Golden Jubilee Field and concludes at the St Ives Showground. Participants travel through quiet bushland and encounter several technical climbs and fast descents. Because the event takes place at night, course markings are designed to be visible under head torch light.
There is a strict time limit of 4 hours to complete the half marathon. To ensure safety, participants must carry a specific list of mandatory gear at all times:
- 21.1 km
- One head torch (waist torches are also accepted, but phone lights are prohibited).
- A fully charged mobile phone with a live SIM card.
- Water carrying capacity of at least 500ml.
This is a cupless event, meaning runners must provide their own reusable cup, bottle, or hydration vest for use at aid stations. An aid station is located at the 15.8 km mark at the Warrimoo Track exit, with another available at the finish line. A professional bag drop service is provided to transport gear from the start to the finish. Optional shuttle buses are available to transport runners from the finish location parking to the starting line before the race begins.
