Sy-5K

The Sy-5K takes place on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Audubon Park, 342 W. Oates Rd., Garland, TX 75043. The event has a science fiction theme and is held at night; participants are asked to bring a light source. A 5K course route is provided by the organizer.

Virtual Option

Registration for the 5K and 2 Mile includes an event-themed participation t-shirt and an event-theme finisher medal. Registrants are advised to register by 12/27 to guarantee t-shirt size. The 2 Mile is an untimed event with no age group awards; finishers still receive medals and shirts. The Kid's Dash is free and is a short 100–200 meter sprint held prior to the main race; dashers may purchase a t-shirt and finisher medal as add-ons. The Virtual Option includes shipping of the shirt and medal in the week of the race.

Age group awards for the 5K are awarded four deep in the following divisions: M/F 0-4, M/F 5-9, M/F 10-14, M/F 15-19, M/F 20-24, M/F 25-29, M/F 30-34, M/F 35-39, M/F 40-44, M/F 45-49, M/F 50-54, M/F 55-59, M/F 60-64, M/F 65-69, M/F 70-74, M/F 75-79, M/F 80+. Overall medals are given for overall male/female and masters/grand masters categories. Awards are distributed at the event and will not be shipped.

The organizer supports charities and donates a portion of profits and donations to Encounter Church (Fate). Volunteers receive a code for a free race entry as a thank you. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
