The 55th Annual Switchback Scamper
The event takes place on September 27, 2026 in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. It includes a 10k run and a 5k walk, both point to point, with a common finish at Mauch Chunk Lake Park.
Distances:
- 10k Run - 6.2 miles
- 5k Walk - 3.1 miles
The 10k course begins in Summit Hill borough at the intersection of W White Street and Church St, nearest address 447 W White St, Summit Hill, PA 18250. The first 2 miles run through streets, the next 2.5 miles follow gravel and grass covered trails, then about 1/4 mile on highway to trail, and the final 0.2 mile is on pavement. The downhill trail section follows the former Switchback Railroad. The race is point to point and transportation to the start is not provided; participants should arrange travel to the start area.
Finish and services: the finish is at Mauch Chunk Lake Park. Summit Hill police provide an escort at the start and ambulance or medical assistance is available at the finish. Registration packet pickup is at Mauch Chunk Lake Park Wildoner/Koch Pavilion from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Alternate driving routes to the park are provided for access via Lentz Trail or Route 209.
