13th Annual Swifty Swine 5K
The 13th Annual Swifty Swine 5K is held at Weldon Springs State Park in Clinton. This event coincided with the weekend of the 59th Apple and Pork Festival. The course is described as scenic, and the race utilizes a bib chipped timing system to provide results on the day of the event.
Participants in the 5K run are grouped into several age categories for competition:
- 10 and under
- 11-17
- 18-29
- 30-39
- 40-49
- 50-59
- 60 and over
Trophies are awarded to the first and second overall male and female runners within each age category. Every 5K participant receives a handmade finisher's medal. In addition to individual competition, business sponsors can form teams of four to six members to compete for a dedicated trophy.
The event includes post-race snacks for participants. For younger children aged 8 and under, there is a separate activity called the Piglet Prance. T-shirts are provided to those who register by the mid-September deadline. Parking and registration areas are marked with signs on the morning of the event at the state park.
