3rd Annual Sweat For A Vet 5K Fun Run
The event is a 5-kilometer community run and walk held on June 6, 2026, at American Legion Post 178, 3950 Highway 17 Business, Murrells Inlet, SC. The Sons of The American Legion Squadron 178 hosts the event to raise funds and support for local military veterans and their families. The organizer notes that over $7,000 in proceeds from last year were donated to local veterans organizations.
The course begins and ends at American Legion Post 178 and is described as a flat route with few turns. Strollers, runners, and walkers are welcome. Dogs are allowed on the course but must remain on a leash; owners are required to pick up any waste and are responsible for their pet’s behavior. One water stop is provided on course at the turnaround, and post-race snacks and water are available for participants.
Race entry is available online only; the registration fee is $40.00. Packet pickup is scheduled Friday, June 5 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM and Saturday, June 6 from 6:00 to 7:15 AM at the race start. Parking and restrooms are available at American Legion Post 178. Participants receive a custom participant shirt, race bib, and participant gift; virtual race swag will be mailed within two weeks after the event.
Awards for the 5K are by gun time and include overall male and female places 1 through 3, overall masters male and female first place, and first place in multiple age groups for both sexes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
