Event overview
The Swarthmore Recreation Association New Year’s Day run is a 5K road race held in Swarthmore, PA on January 1, 2026. The USTAF-certified course begins near the Swarthmore College Fieldhouse, runs through the borough, and finishes on the Swarthmore College track. A free kids and family dash is held as part of the event; no separate registration is required for the kids dash.
Registration, fees and pick-up
Registration follows published milestones: before December 1 the fee is $20.26; December 1-20 it is $35.00; December 21-28 it is $40.00; and December 29 through race day (onsite) it is $45.00. Racers registered by December 30 may pick up bibs and shirts at Bryn Mawr Running Company in Media, PA. Onsite registration and bib/shirt pickup are available on race day at the Inn at Swarthmore.
Race services and awards
Registered entrants receive a long sleeve tech shirt and light snacks and refreshments such as coffee, bananas, and granola bars. Onsite child care is offered by the SRA teen sports mentors for potty-trained children aged 4-12 who are children of registered runners; space is limited. Awards include gift cards for first place overall male and female, medals for age group winners, and ribbons for kids who participate in the kids dash.
