SVR Winter Series
The SVR Winter Series is a sequence of eight in person races organized by the Shenandoah Valley Runners, a non-profit running club, at locations across the northern Shenandoah Valley. The series runs from December through early March with events scheduled roughly every other weekend. One listed event is marked as canceled.
Full series registration is available only through RunSignup and only to active club members. To be eligible for Winter Series awards, participants must have a 2026 club membership established before February 1, 2026. Full series pricing is: Individuals $60; students up to age 23 and seniors 65+ $40; family registrations for up to four members $140. Single race pricing (not including Event 1) is $20 per person when completed through RunSignup and $25 per person for in person cash registration on race day.
Runners who register for the full series receive an SVR knit beanie in one of four styles; swag is guaranteed only for the first 800 runners to check in for the full series. Race #1 uses a numbered bib for all runners; races 2 through 8 use an assigned shoe timing chip that must be worn at each race, can be replaced for $20 if lost, and should be returned at series end.
SVR is volunteer run and affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America. The club follows the RRCA recommendation to not allow earphones, pets, or strollers in any race. Volunteers are needed before, during, and after events.
Series awards are based on points earned after each race. Points are allocated by overall finish and by age group finish, with up to 500 points available per race in each category. A runner's cumulative score reflects their top six finishes with a maximum of 3000 points; runners must complete at least five races to be eligible for awards, though these requirements may change if events are canceled. Awards include top five overall males and females and top three in multiple age groups. A Perfect Attendance award is given to members who attend all scheduled events.
