Surrey Hills Half Marathon
This is a guided trail half marathon through the Surrey Hills, organised as a group run rather than a race. The distance is 13 miles and the start and finish are in Guildford, with a meeting point at St Martha's Hill.
The route typically visits St Martha's Church and hill, the village of Shere, Newlands Corner and Hackhurst Downs, and includes sections of the North Downs Way. The exact route changes from date to date so each outing can differ.
Options include weekend dates and a midsummer evening run. Evening outings are supported with head torches provided by the organiser, and Salomon trail shoes are available to test on some runs. A full kit list is provided in advance. Participants should be able to sustain an average pace of about 10 minutes per mile or 6 minutes per kilometre on trail and have a suitable level of fitness.
Practical details: a car park is available and the meeting point is a short run or taxi ride from a train station. The entry cost is £25 per person. The organiser provides further information a few days before each run. Alcohol free beer is sometimes available at the end of the run subject to availability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
