Surrey Hills Half Marathon
A guided trail half marathon starting and finishing in Guildford, Surrey. The route covers 13 miles through the Surrey Hills and includes St Martha's Church and hill, the village of Shere, Newlands Corner and Hackhurst Downs. Runners follow varied trail surfaces and sections of the North Downs Way. The route changes between dates but always includes St Martha's Church and part of the North Downs Way.
The event is organised as a group run rather than a race. Participants should be able to sustain an average pace of about 10 minutes per mile (6 minutes per kilometre) on trails for prolonged periods. A full kit list is provided before the run; head torches are available for evening outings and some trail shoes are available to test. A car park is available at the meeting area and a train station is a short run or taxi ride away. The listed cost is £25 per person. Organisers will send further practical information a few days beforehand. The guide is an experienced trail and ultra runner, a mountain leader, qualified guide and coach who leads navigation and group safety. Organisers partner with Silva to provide torches for trials and may offer an alcohol free beer from Athletic Brewing Company to participants subject to availability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
