Surftown Half Marathon, Relay & 5K
The Surftown event is a road race series held along the Rhode Island coast that includes a half marathon, a 2-person relay and a 5K. The half marathon course passes through the Watch Hill neighborhoods, continues into Weekapaug, and runs along the coastline through the Misquamicut beach community. The relay splits the half marathon course into two legs with exchanges located within walking distance of the pre- and post-race area.
The 5K is an out-and-back route that travels along Winnapaug Pond and through the Misquamicut beach community. A virtual race option is also offered.
All participants receive a beach-themed finisher medal and a short sleeve technical shirt. A post-race gathering takes place by the beach and includes chowder from Flanders Fish Market and a complimentary beer from Grey Sail Brewing for attendees age 21 and over with ID. The event is presented by Westerly Hospital.
The race is part of broader HMF programming, including a Tri-State Triple series that links this event with other regional races and a 2026 charity program that allows participants to select and support a beneficiary organization.
