Surfin' Santa's Christmas In July takes place on July 26, 2026 in Stratford, Connecticut at 10 Washington Pkwy. The event offers multiple short-distance options along a scenic, mostly flat course through the seaside neighborhood of Lordship by the water.
Distances offered:
- 5K (chip timed, 3.11 miles)
- One-mile Holiday Stroll (untimed, walking only)
- Kids run about 200 yards (free; for age 9 and under; adults may accompany)
The 5K is chip timed and only 5K participants are eligible for awards and prizes, including a first place grand prize midweek Surfside hotel stay and age-group recognitions. The one-mile stroll is untimed and does not include awards. Paid registrants receive a Surfin' Santa T-shirt, post-event snacks, and entry to the post-event reception where adult beverages are available to those 21 and over. The event benefits St Vincent’s Swim Across The Sound, a charity that supports oncology programs and financial assistance for cancer patients and families.
Online registration opens May 1 and has tiered fees and deadlines for guaranteed shirts. The event has a strict 250 person limit and limited parking near the Little Pub, Washington Parkway, the seawall, and local side streets. Roads remain open during the event; participants are asked to run or walk on the left facing traffic, avoid ear buds for safety, and be prepared to carry fluids if water tables are not available.
