Trail Running in Northern Minnesota
The Superior Spring Trail Race takes place in Lutsen, Minnesota. The event features scenic trail running courses that parallel Lake Superior. The races are held on the Superior Hiking Trail, which includes diverse terrain such as maple forests, boardwalks, and a coniferous tunnel.
Participants navigate a technical landscape composed of rocks and tree roots. Notable sections of the route include Moose Mountain and Mystery Mountain, where runners encounter stairs and significant elevation changes. The courses also pass through the Poplar River Valley and areas of white cedar forests.
The event offers three distinct race distances:

- 25KM
- 12.5KM
The race is organized by Rocksteady Running and is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026. Finishers receive a commemorative medal upon completing their respective distances.
