Superior Hee-Haw Hustle in Superior, Arizona
The Superior Hee-Haw Hustle is a pack burro race held in Superior, Arizona, with the start area on historic Main Street and courses that follow the Legends of Superior Trail into the surrounding Tonto National Forest. Teams consist of one human runner and one burro; only donkeys are allowed and riding is prohibited. Burro rental is a separate fee and teams must secure a burro before registering.

All courses are out and back. The short course is described as flat and fast and passes views of Apache Leap and Picket Post Mountain. The longest course uses portions of the Arizona Trail and includes technical sections and possible water crossings; hoof boots are recommended and a pack saddle with a pick, gold pan, and shovel is required for prize eligibility. The 6 and 17 mile courses include mandatory aid/check-in stations; the long course has multiple checkpoints. All racers must check in at required stations and meet the race cutoffs or receive a Did Not Finish result.
Required equipment and conduct rules include a properly fitting halter, a lead rope no longer than 15 feet held by the runner, and limited use of jack or stud chains with a pressure-release technique. Use of tools other than the halter, lead rope, and stud chain, mistreatment of burros, leaving the designated course without correcting the route, or losing required saddle equipment may result in disqualification.
Burro camp is hosted at the Superior Municipal Airport with dry camping available for a per night fee. The camp provides potable water, portable toilets, hand wash stations, a manure trailer, and a shuttle service for race teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
