Courses and logistics
Courses head west from Superior into Arnett Canyon and include riparian sections with flowing creeks, sycamore trees, saguaros, and rocky formations. The 31K includes a short section of the Arizona Trail; the 50K follows many miles of the Arizona Trail and circumnavigates Picketpost Mountain. Aid stations are placed along the courses; runners are advised to carry at least one to two bottles of water and prepare for the longest, more remote aid stretches (Telegraph Canyon is noted as a remote aid with minimal supplies). Crews are allowed at specified locations including the finish area, Superior Public Pool, the LOST turnaround, and Picketpost (parking for crews is offsite with a short hike). Pacers are not permitted. The event is cupless - runners must carry a reusable container for aid station fills. Chip timing will record finish times and bibs must be displayed at aid stations. Parking is available in downtown Superior and at nearby lots; overflow parking for the 12K is at Superior High School. Lodging and camping options are listed locally.
