Copper Corridor Trail Runs, Superior AZ
The Copper Corridor Trail Runs are a set of trail races held in and around Superior, Arizona, using terrain near Picketpost Mountain and sections of the Arizona Trail. Distances offered include:
- 50K
- 32K
- 17K
- 12K
Courses depart from downtown Superior for the 50K, 32K and 17K; the 12K starts and finishes at the Superior Public Pool. Route descriptions note travel west toward Arnett Canyon, with riparian sections featuring flowing creeks and sycamore trees, plus desert terrain with Saguaro cactus forests and notable rock formations. The 50K follows many miles of the Arizona Trail and circumnavigates Picketpost Mountain.
Aid stations are placed roughly every 2 to 12 miles and provide water, ice, an electrolyte drink (Gnarly Fuel 2O), sweet and salty snacks, and fruit. The event is cupless, so runners must carry their own reusable containers for refills. Timing is chip based and bib display is required at aid stations. MedStar Solutions medical staff will be stationed at the start/finish area for first aid and race medical decisions.
Crews are allowed at specific locations, but parking at the Picketpost trailhead is restricted; crews must park 0.5 to 0.75 miles away. Courses are marked with orange ribbons, reflective medallions, laminated signs, and wrong-way flagging. Distances may vary slightly year to year due to permitting.
