About the race
El Jefe 100 is a point to point trail race near Superior, Arizona, held April 3–4, 2027. The route runs almost entirely on remote singletrack through classic Sonoran Desert terrain, where saguaro, palo verde, and mesquite form a scrubby green canopy across the landscape. The race is named for a lone jaguar known as El Jefe and is presented as a tribute to that aspect of the local wilderness.
The course measures 105.8 miles and is entirely on National Forest Lands. Total elevation gain is 12,548 feet with 13,910 feet of elevation loss. The race operates with six aid stations along the route and a 36 hour cutoff. The remote, singletrack nature of the course and the substantial elevation change are defining features of this event.
