Superhero for Hope 8th Annual Run/Walk 5K
The Superhero for Hope 8th Annual Run/Walk 5K is presented by the Medical Society of Delaware and takes place on October 10, 2026, at Rockford Park, Lookout Drive, Wilmington, DE (19th Street & Tower Rd.). The event supports the MSD Campaign for Kids, an initiative born in 2012 and launched in 2013 that focuses on seven issues affecting youth.
The MSD Campaign for Kids addresses Obesity, Bullying, Violence, Intelligent decisions, Opioid abuse, Underage drinking, and Suicide. The run/walk promotes awareness and educational opportunities and raises funds for counseling, school programs, and other resources for young people in Delaware.
The course starts and finishes near Rockford Tower, follows one loop of the park, continues out Tower Drive to Penna Ave with a turnaround at A.I. Middle School, and returns for another loop around the park. The route is described as a shaded course.
There are two event options: a standard 5K Run/Walk and a Competitive Walking 5K, in which participants must walk the entire race. Timing is by chip using the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System, and results are posted online. Amenities include unisex tee shirts, post-race refreshments, and music.
Awards are given by gun time for overall and masters top finishers; all other age-group awards use chip (net) time. Age-group awards cover 13 & under through 70 & over, plus top walker awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
