Superhero for Hope 8th Annual Run/Walk 5K
Superhero for Hope 8th Annual Run/Walk 5K is presented by the Medical Society of Delaware and takes place at Rockford Park, Lookout Drive, Wilmington, DE. The event supports the MSD Campaign for Kids, an initiative that focuses on seven issues affecting youth: Obesity, Bullying, Violence, Intelligent decisions, Opioid abuse, Underage drinking, and Suicide. Funds from the event support counseling, school programs, and related services for Delaware youth.
The course starts and finishes near the Rockford Tower, follows one loop of the park, continues out Tower Drive to Penna Ave with a turnaround at A.I. Middle School, and returns to Rockford Park for a second loop. The route is described as shaded along portions of the park. No dogs are allowed due to insurance liability and bibs are non-transferable.
The event offers a regular 5K run/walk plus a Competitive Walking 5K category that requires participants to walk the entire race with no running or jogging. Chip timing is provided using the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System. Awards include top finisher awards (overall and masters scored by gun time), age-group awards scored by chip time, and awards for top walkers.
