Event Overview
This event includes a Superhero 5K race, a Kids Fun Run (1/2 mile), and a Superhero Walk. It is hosted by the Owensboro Health Foundation and takes place at Owensboro Health Healthpark in Owensboro, Kentucky. The event is designed to honor cancer survivors and raise funds for the Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center. Proceeds provide assistance, support, and resources for patients.
Distances & Activities
Participants can choose from three main activities:
- 5K Race
- Kids Fun Run (a 1/2 mile distance)
- Superhero Walk
Other activities from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. include music, food, kids' activities, games, and appearances by superheroes. Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero. Awards are given for each event and for top fundraising individuals and teams.
Registration & Fees
Registration for the events is separate.
- 5K Race: Entry fee is $30 as an early bird price until August 31, increasing to $40 after September 1. Registration is completed on the event's main site.
- Kids Fun Run: Entry fee is $10 per child. The first 200 kids registered receive a medal and t-shirt. Registration is completed at a specific external website.
- Superhero Walk: Cancer survivors can participate for free. For other participants, the entry fee is $30 per person. Teams can be formed with no member limit, and registration is completed at the same external website as the Kids Fun Run.
All registered participants are listed to enjoy music, children’s activities, and food and beverages.
Logistics
Packet pickup is available on the day before the event and on race day at Owensboro Health Healthpark. The first 200 kids registered for the Fun Run receive a medal. A t-shirt is guaranteed for Kids Fun Run participants only if registered by a specified deadline in early September.
The 5K race awards are given to 1st and 2nd place male and female winners in multiple age categories, with overall winners pulled from their age groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
