Super Speeder 5K
The Super Speeder 5K is an annual community event held at Laurel Park in Gainesville, Georgia. The primary goal of the race is to raise funds for the Shop with the Sheriff Children's Christmas program. All proceeds from the event activities go directly toward providing support for children in need within the Hall County community during the holiday season.
Participants can choose from the following event distances:
- 5K
- 1K Fun Run
- 5K Virtual Run
The in-person 5K route consists of a paved course along the shoreline of Lake Lanier. For younger participants aged 10 and under, the 1K Fun Run follows an out and back route. A virtual option is available for those who wish to support the cause from a different location. The event takes place regardless of rain, though severe weather or lightning may cause a cancellation.
Registration includes a race t-shirt and participants who complete the race receive a medal. Awards are presented to the top male and female finishers across various age categories, ranging from age 11 to over 60.
Beyond the races, several units from the Hall County Sheriff's Office and Fire Services are present at the park. Attendees can see the SWAT team, Dive and Marine Unit, K-9 unit, and Drone Unit. A Hall County fire engine, ambulance, and representatives from the animal shelter are also on-site, alongside various food vendors. The Sheriff's Honor Guard performs the presentation of Colors to open the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
