Super 5K Fun Run/Walk
The Super 5K takes place in Metropolis, Illinois, a city recognized as the home of Superman. This running event is held annually in conjunction with the larger Superman Celebration. The course begins at Fort Massac State Park, located at 1308 E 5th Street.
Participants compete in a 5k race that utilizes electronic chip timing to record results. The event serves as a fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting the Massac County Drug Awareness Coalition. Registration is available for both adults and children aged 10 and under, with a price increase for those who register in person rather than online.
The competition features several categories for recognition. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, the event recognizes participants across multiple age groups for both males and females, including:
- 1-15
- 16-19
- 20-29
- 30-39
- 40-49
- 50-59
- 60-69
- 70-99
Registered participants receive a commemorative t-shirt, though specific sizes are only guaranteed for those who complete their registration by June 5. Packet pick-up is organized prior to the start of the race on-site at the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
