Freedom 5K Celebration at Independence Bank
The event is a community 5K held on July 4, 2026, in Midtown Paducah, KY, at Independence Bank parking lot on Buckner and Labelle Avenue, across from the Coke Plant. The course follows Jefferson toward the flood wall, turns onto 17th Street, then Madison Street, Fountain Avenue, and returns on Jefferson to finish on Labelle Avenue between the Coke Plant and Independence Bank.
Three divisions are offered: walk, run, and ruck. The walk division is non-competitive and does not receive awards. The run division awards overall and age group finishers. The ruck division requires participants to bring their own weighted vest or pack; organizers recommend a minimum weight of 20 pounds for participants under 150 pounds and 30 pounds for participants over 150 pounds. Weight will not be checked by organizers. Overall ruck awards are given for first through third place for male and female finishers.
Registration opens March 21, 2026 and closes May 16, 2026; the stated registration fee is $35. Participants who register after June 16 are not guaranteed a shirt; shirts will be available at packet pick-up on a first come first serve basis for late registrants. All collected donations and a portion of race proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project with a stated fundraising goal of $7,000.
