SunSmart 5K
SunSmart 5K is a community run and walk held at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in Key Biscayne, Florida. The event takes place at the park located at 1200 Crandon Blvd and includes a 5 km walk/run and a separate Kids Dash.
The event provides free skin cancer screenings performed by University of Miami dermatologists. It also offers educational information about sun protection and raises funds for skin cancer research. Proceeds are donated to the University of Miami Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery and to the Sylvester Cancer Center.
Registration is organized by category and includes student, youth, adult, and VIP donor options. Students must show a valid student ID. Sample registration fees listed for categories include $10 for the Kids Dash, $20 for children 18 and under, $25 for students, $30 for adults 18 and over, and VIP donor tiers at $75, $100, and $200.
Participants receive race amenities that are listed for the event: a race t-shirt, a completion medal, a post-race breakfast, and included park entrance.
