Sunset Lake Triathlon
The Sunset Lake Triathlon returns to Sunset Lake in Bridgeton, New Jersey on June 19, 2027. Swim and run segments take place in and around Bridgeton Park and the Cohanzick Zoo on paved trails and closed roads. The bike segment is on scenic country roads and is heavily monitored by police with partial road closures and limited local traffic. This year uses a time trial start to allow faster entry into the water.
Parking is located at the high school about 1/2 mile from transition at 51 West Ave N, Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
Distances:
- Sprint Triathlon: 1/4 mile swim, 13 mile bike, 5 km run
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500 meter swim, 26 mile bike, 10 km run (2 loops)
- Duathlon: 2 mile run, 13 mile bike, 5 km run
- Aquabike: 1/4 mile swim, 13 mile bike
- Swim/Run: 1/4 mile swim, 5 km run
- Bike Only: 26 mile time trial
Gradient Bike Shop will be on site as a mobile bike mechanic. NovaCare Rehabilitation will offer pre- and postrace stretching and massages. The event is part of the DQ Events Grand Prix and Club Challenge; participants earn points for overall placement, age group placement, and for finishing. Kayak and non-multisport events do not gain points.
This is a USAT sanctioned event. All participants must have an active USAT membership that does not expire before the event conclusion. Photo ID is required; youth athletes without ID must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with photo ID. Athletes must pick up their own packets. Common rules include no drafting beyond a 15 second pass window, headphones prohibited, no riding in transition, and helmets with chin straps fastened whenever the bike is in the athlete's possession. Awards include overall and age group placements, Clydesdale/Athena divisions, PC/ID Open, overall non-binary, and relay team awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
