Sundowner 5k
The Sundowner 5k is a community 5 kilometer road race held on Thursday, July 16 at Pilcher Park. The course is USATF certified and follows a scenic, wooded route through the park. The event has been held for more than 25 years.
Registration fees vary by date: $42 through June 22, $47 June 23 through July 15, and $55 on race day. Inwood Run Club rates are available and applicable discounts will be reflected at online checkout. Packet pickup for pre-registered runners is available on July 15 at Inwood Athletic Club, and additional packet pickup is available on race day.
The race is chip timed. Pre-registered runners may choose a unisex short sleeve performance shirt or a women's racerback tank top, and all finishers receive a medal. A post race cookout will be held in the pavilion; past menus have included hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, chicken sandwiches, chips and cookies. Additional meal tickets are available for purchase.
Awards are given to overall male and female winners, masters winners age 50 and older, and the top three male and female finishers in each age bracket from 0-9 through 80+. Walkers are welcome but are asked to maintain roughly a 15 minute per mile pace or better. Gear check is available. Limited parking is near the Barber and Oberwortmann Horticultural Center with offsite parking and shuttle service to the race site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
