Sundowner 5k
The Sundowner 5k takes place on Thursday, July 16 at Pilcher Park. The course is USATF certified and follows a scenic wooded route through historic Pilcher Park. The event has run for over 25 years and is chip timed.
Pre-registered runners choose between a unisex short-sleeve performance shirt or a women's racerback tank; all finishers receive a medal. A post-race cookout in the pavilion follows the race. Past menus have included hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, chicken sandwiches, chips and cookies. Additional meal tickets are available for purchase for $7 per person.
Awards are given to the overall male and female winners and to masters (age 50+) male and female winners; age-group awards go to the top three male and female finishers in each bracket. Age group brackets are 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+.
Registration fees are tiered: $42 through June 22, $47 June 23–July 15 and $55 on race day. Inwood Run Club rates and organized group discounts (groups of 15+ receive $5 off per runner; Inwood Run Club members are not eligible for the group discount) are offered. Packet pickup is available the day before at Inwood Athletic Club and on race day. A free shuttle will transport participants between offsite parking near the Nature Center and the race site; limited parking is available near the Barber & Oberwortmann Horticultural Center and portions may be gravel due to construction. Gear check is provided and unclaimed items will be returned to Inwood Athletic Club for next-day pickup. Virtual runners must pick up packets in person.
