Event overview
The Sun Run: La Primera 5K/10K Roadrace with FitKidz Mile takes place on January 18, 2026 at Danny Lopez Park, 4300 N Silverbell Rd, Tucson, AZ. The event includes the following races:
- 10K
- 5K
- FitKidz Mile
The 10K is part of The Running Shop SAR Grand Prix series. The course uses a loop along the Santa Cruz River Path and passes through the Sweetwater Riparian area. The route features gently rolling hills and is not an out-and-back course.
Logistics, awards and beneficiaries
Pre-race packet pickup is offered the day before at The Running Shop, 3055 N. Campbell Ave, with additional pickup available on race morning. The start/finish area is on the far southeast corner of Danny Lopez Park near Ramada #8; parking is available west of the start/finish area throughout the park. Both the 5K and 10K award the top three finishers in five-year age groups. The first 500 registered participants receive a race t-shirt and medal. The event benefits the Gratitude and Grace Foundation. Sponsors and partners include The Running Shop, Gratitude and Grace Foundation, VIP Mortgage, and the National Association of Women in Construction.
