Summerville Family YMCA Shamrock Shuffle
The Summerville Family YMCA Shamrock Shuffle is an annual community event held in historic Summerville, South Carolina. This tradition has taken place for over twenty years, with participants traveling through the town streets starting from the Downtown Summerville YMCA location at 208 W Doty Ave. The event serves as a fundraiser to support local health and wellness programs, including swimming lessons, senior services, and support for cancer survivors.
The event offers several race categories to accommodate different preferences:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- Virtual 5K
Participants can organize into school teams to compete for a monetary prize for their school's media center. On-site childcare is available for a fee on the morning of the event at the YMCA facility. Packet pick-up is scheduled for the Friday before the race as well as the morning of the event. Because the race functions as a fundraiser, the organizers maintain a no-refund policy. In the event of inclement weather, the race schedule may be delayed by up to one hour.
