Summer Solstice Endurance Run, Abilene TX

The Summer Solstice Endurance Run is an annual night running event held at Redbud Park in south Abilene. The event in 2026 marks the 20th running and offers multiple formats on a one mile loop course that stays within the park. The loop has no street crossings and is described as well lit after dark. The start and finish area is located near the playground in the middle of the park.

There is one well-stocked aid station that provides water and Gatorade for all participants. Timed-event participants are offered additional typical ultra race items at the aid station, including peanuts, chips, Oreos, M&Ms, and pizza. Runners may refill personal water bottles or hydration packs after each loop. Participants may set up a lawn chair and a drop bag near the start/finish area; a flashlight may help locate items in a drop bag but is not required for the course.

The event uses chip timing managed by the Abilene Runners Club, with published results that include lap counts, distance and finishing times. Early packet pickup is hosted by Abilene Running Company the day before and the day of the event, and late registration and race day packet pickup are available at Redbud Park. Race shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after June 8. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
