Summer Solstice Endurance Run
The Summer Solstice Endurance Run celebrates its 20th year in Abilene, Texas. The event takes place at Redbud Park, utilizing a one mile loop located within the park grounds. The course is designed without any street crossings and features artificial lighting for visibility throughout the night.
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- 5 Mile
- 3 Hour
- 6 Hour
The event is chip timed by the Abilene Runners Club. For those seeking credit toward Marathon Maniac points, a distance of 26.2 miles can be achieved by completing 27 loops of the course. Results for all distances and timed intervals are published following the conclusion of the event.
The venue includes a single aid station stocked with water and Gatorade. For participants in the timed endurance events, the station also provides food items such as peanuts, chips, cookies, and pizza. Runners are permitted to use hydration packs or water bottles, which can be refilled at the end of each loop. A designated area near the start and finish is available for participants to set up personal lawn chairs and drop bags. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
