Event Overview
The Summer Session 10k & 5k is a running event in Hendersonville, North Carolina. It takes place on June 27, 2026, at Trailside Brewing at Lennox Station.
Race Distances
Runners can choose from two main distances:
- 10k
- 5k
There is also a separate, untimed children's event called the Sunshine Kids Sprint, which is a quarter-mile run.
Course Information
Both the 10k and 5k courses start in front of Trailside Brewing and are run on the Ecusta Trail. The Ecusta Trail is a greenway converted from a rail line. The courses are described as an out-and-back route.
Included with Registration
Registration for the 10k or 5k includes:
- A commemorative race shirt.
- A finisher medal.
- A Trailside Brewing beer (for participants 21 and over) or a non-alcoholic beverage.
- A donation to the Mills River Partnership, a nonprofit focused on water quality preservation.
The Sunshine Kids Sprint registration includes a finisher medal and race bib.
Awards
Awards are given for the 10k and 5k races. Overall awards (1st, 2nd, 3rd place) and masters/grandmasters awards for participants in male, female, and nonbinary categories are gift certificates to Fleet Feet Asheville. Age group awards (top 3 in each category) are Trailside Brewing pint glasses. Age groups range from 0-14 to 80 & up. There are no awards for the Sunshine Kids Sprint.
Additional Options
A virtual run option is available for the 10k or 5k distances. Virtual participants receive a race bib, shirt, and medal by mail after the event date but are not eligible for awards.
Policies
The event has a no-refund policy. Participants may transfer their registration to another runner, a different distance, or to a virtual run up to a specified deadline, with potential fees for late transfers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
