Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Houston
Summer Meltdown is a multi-distance running event held at Brazos River Park in Sugarland, Texas, organized by Bigfoot Running Company. The event includes in-person and virtual options and provides aid stations along the course for water and assistance. A DJ will provide on-course music and runner announcements. Post-race offerings include snacks, refreshments, and a Kona Ice treat.
Packet pickup is offered starting 1.5 hours before the event start. Shirt availability is guaranteed up to 10 days before the event; remaining sizes may be announced later. The organizer notes mixed course surfaces: paved trails, crushed granite, and some dirt paths. Races proceed in most weather conditions.
Awards and timing:
- The 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon use chip timing and include first overall trophies, masters recognition pins, and standard age group awards across multiple age brackets.
- The Kids Dash and 1 Mile events are untimed and include participant shirts and medals.
- A limited "Volunteer then Run" option provides a chip-timed bib, a tee shirt, and a finisher medal for participants who help before the race.
Additional participant options and policies include youth pricing for some distances, a referral refund program, and scalable group discounts. A variety of volunteer roles are described, with volunteers asked to arrive 1.5 hours before the start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
