Run for Hope in Houston
Christmas in July is an annual community event hosted by The Salvation Army of Greater Houston. This summer race serves as a fundraiser to support local families in need, providing resources for meals, shelter, and youth programs. The event takes place in Houston, Texas, utilizing a course that follows the Houston Park Trails.
Participants can choose from various race distances designed for different interests:
- 100m Reindeer Kids Dash
- 5K Red Kettle Run/Walk
- 10K Angel Tree Run/Walk
The 100m dash is specifically intended for children ages 10 and under. The 5K and 10K routes are scenic courses through the park trails that accommodate both competitive runners and those walking with families. Each registrant receives a custom poly-tech race shirt, an official race bib, and a finisher medal. Awards are presented for overall performance and specific age groups.
The event aims to secure early funding for holiday assistance programs and year-round services for seniors, veterans, and individuals requiring emergency shelter. While completing their chosen distance, runners contribute to the organization's local efforts, including hurricane season response and youth club programs in the Greater Houston area.
