Event details
The Summer Extravaganza takes place on 22 August 2026 at the Leeds/Liverpool Canal, Wyther Lane, Kirkstall, Leeds LS5 3BT. The event is organised by Its Grim Up North Running and is licenced by the Trail Running Association. Entry fees range roughly from £24 to £42 depending on distance. The organiser donates £1 to the Hollybush charity for every runner.
Distances and entry
- 10k : age 16+, fee £24–£26
- 10 Miles : age 17+, fee £26–£28
- Half Marathon : age 17+, fee £30–£32
- 20 Miler : age 18+, fee £37–£39
- Marathon : open to entrants, fee £40–£42
Course and facilities
The route follows a canal towpath from Kirkstall and is a lapped course with one lap of 6.7 miles. The organiser describes the surface as flat and good underfoot. There is a 6.5 hour cut off for completion. Feed stations are located on the course at approximately every three miles; the event aims to be cup-less so runners are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle. Bibs are issued on the day at registration.
Registration, transport and race rules
Registration is at the Hollybush Conservation Centre, Broad Lane, Kirkstall, Leeds LS5 3BP; toilets are available there. Car parking is free at Morrisons, Kirkstall, a short walk from the start/finish area. Large over-ear headphones are banned; bone-conducting or one-in-one-out earphones are permitted. There may be unmarshalled road crossings. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and post-race food options including a BBQ roll with gluten-free and vegan options, cake, tea, pop and beer.
