About the race
The Summer Extravaganza 2027, organised by Its Grim Up North Running, takes place at the Leeds/Liverpool Canal by Wyther Lane in Kirkstall (about 3 miles outside Leeds city centre). The route is a canal towpath that is described as flat and good underfoot; it is a lapped course with one lap equal to 6.7 miles. Races are licensed by the Trail Running Association and there is a 6.5 hour cut off for the event.

Support and logistics include feed stations roughly every three miles offering drinks and food, a cup-less approach at stations so runners should use a reusable cup or bottle, and marshals positioned on course. Organisers restrict large over-ear headphones; bone-conduction or single in-ear pieces are permitted. There may be unmarshalled road crossings.
Registration is located at the junction of Wyther Lane and Broad Lane beside the canal and bibs are issued at registration on the day. Car parking is available free of charge at Morrisons in Kirkstall. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and post-race food including cake and a BBQ roll with gluten-free and vegan options, plus tea, pop or beer.
