Event overview
The Summer Extravaganza is an outdoor trail running event organised by Its Grim Up North Running at the Leeds/Liverpool Canal in Kirkstall, Leeds. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association. Registration is at Hollybush Conservation Centre, Broad Lane, Kirkstall, Leeds LS5 3BP, where toilets are available and bibs are issued on the day. The organiser donates £1 to the Hollybush charity for every runner.
All finishers receive a bespoke medal and post-race food options, including cake and a BBQ roll with gluten-free and vegan options. Drinks such as tea, pop and beer are available at the finish. Feed stations are placed on the course, typically about every three miles.
Course and logistics
The route starts next to the canal at Kirkstall, about 3 miles outside the centre of Leeds, and runs on a canal towpath. The course is a lapped route with one lap measuring 6.7 miles. A 6.5 hour cut off applies to the event.
Car parking is free at Morrisons in Kirkstall (a short walk from the start/finish). The event aims to be cup-less; runners are asked to use a re-usable cup or bottle at feed stations. Large over-ear headphones are banned; bone-conducting or single-ear in-ear devices are permitted. There may be unmarshalled road crossings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
