Summer Extravaganza : Leeds/Liverpool Canal, Kirkstall
The Summer Extravaganza is a trail running event on the canal towpath at Kirkstall, Leeds. The route is a lapped course with one lap of 6.7 miles that follows a flat, firm canal towpath. The event is licenced by the Trail Running Association and has a 6.5 hour cut off.
Five distance options are offered:
- 10k
- 10 Miles
- 20 Miler
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
Feed and water stations are typically placed around every three miles and the event operates a cup-less approach, so participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle. Large over-ear headphones are banned; bone conduction or one-in-one-out earphones are permitted. There may be unmarshalled road crossings on the course. Marshals are positioned along the route.
Registration is located across the road from the start/finish at Hollybush Conservation Centre, Broad Lane, Kirkstall, LS5 3BP, where toilets are available. Bibs are issued on the day of registration. Car parking is available at Morrisons in Kirkstall, a short walk from the start/finish. The organiser gives £1 to the Hollybush charity for every runner. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and are provided with cake and a BBQ roll, including gluten-free and vegan options, plus drinks at the finish.
