2026 Summer Burke Lake 5k & 10k
This event offers two distances around Burke Lake Park: a combination of paved road and trail that runs through park trails. The first and last half mile of each distance are on paved roads; the trail sections have some roots but are fairly well maintained without major elevation gains. Walkers are welcome and a virtual race option is available.

Runners receive a finisher's medal, a technical (drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for runners registered before July 22; extra shirts may be available afterward on a first-come first-served basis. Registration fees change on set dates and increase on race morning.
Water stations are provided: three aid stations on the 10k at approximately mile 0.5, 3.1 and 5.7, and two on the 5k at approximately mile 0.5 and 2.6. Gatorade will be available at some stations; stations are subject to change.
The event awards the top three men and women overall and first and second place in age groups 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. The race is part of year-long series scoring, including a Back of the Pack series that groups runners by similar pace for series points.
Live results are posted electronically and final results with series points are published the Monday after the race. Event photos taken by staff are posted the Tuesday after the event. The event benefits the Purple Heart Foundation, supporting critical assistance grants, resources related to TBI and mental health, academic scholarships, and service dogs.
