Event overview
The Summer Burke Lake 5k & 10k takes place on August 1, 2026, at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, VA (7315 Ox Rd). The event awards points toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the organizer's Summer Series. Walkers are welcome. A virtual race option is offered.

Course and facilities
The course is a combination of paved road and trail. The first and last half mile of both distances are on paved roads. The trail sections contain some roots but are described as fairly well maintained with no major elevation gains. Restrooms are located by the ice cream parlor. Parking is inside the park near the mini golf area.
Race services and logistics
Participants receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. Water stations: three on the 10k at approximately miles 0.5, 3.1 and 5.7; two on the 5k at approximately miles 0.5 and 2.6. Gatorade will be available at some stations. Packet pickup is available at the event. Race day registration is offered; t-shirt sizes are guaranteed for runners registered before July 22.
Fees, awards and charity
Early registration fees until July 15 are $30 for the 5k and $45 for the 10k; fees increase after that and rise by $5 on race morning. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall, plus 1st and 2nd in standard age groups. The race benefits the Purple Heart Foundation, supporting assistance grants, veteran-related resources, scholarships, and service dogs.
Results and policies
Live results will be posted online and via a race-day QR code; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the event.
