Tijuana Flats Summer Beach Run : event overview

The Tijuana Flats Summer Beach Run offers three distance options held on the beach: a five mile, a 5K and a one mile fun run. The 5K starts with the five mile and turns around at the 1.55 mile point. All races follow an out and back route on the sand and start heading south. Digital clocks are located at each mile and water stations are provided at every mile. The event is scheduled near low tide to provide more firmly packed beach for participants.

Medals are given to all finishers, with a large custom finisher medal for event participants. Age-group awards are offered in both the 5K and five mile events. The five mile includes cash awards for the top three men and top three women overall and has qualifying time standards for prize money. The five mile also serves as a Jacksonville Grand Prix event.

The event includes event apparel and on-site amenities: colorful technical tank tops, food from Tijuana Flats, a post-race burrito and free beer at the Seawalk Pavilion, and live music during the celebration. Extra meal tickets for non-participating family members are available for purchase. The race is organized by JTC Running, which has hosted the event for decades and reports participation of over 1,000 people in recent years.
