Florida Financial Advisors Summer Beach Run
The event offers three distances:
- 5 mile
- 5K
- One mile
All finishers in the 5 mile, 5K and one mile receive a large custom finisher medal. Awards and prize money are offered for the 5 mile and the 5K. The 5 mile pays cash to the top three men and women overall: $150, $100 and $50. To qualify for that prize money men must run faster than 29:00 and women must run faster than 33:00. Age-group awards are given in multiple divisions from 10 and under up to 80 and over.
Course and race-day details
All races are out-and-back on the beach and start by heading south. The course uses marked turnaround points, cones and signs. Digital clocks and water stations are placed at each mile. The event is scheduled near low tide to provide firmer packed sand for runners.
Packet pickup is handled at local 1st Place Sports stores prior to race day, with remaining packets moved to the Jacksonville Seawalk Pavilion for race-day pickup. A post-race celebration at the Seawalk Pavilion includes beer and pizza; extra tickets for non-participants are available for a fee and IDs may be required.
