Strut Your Mutt
The Strut Your Mutt event takes place at Springbrook Park in Alcoa, Tennessee. This annual gathering features both walking and running activities designed for pet owners, animal advocates, and families. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Blount County Animal Center, supporting veterinary services and medical care for animals.
Participants can choose from the following event distances:
- 2 km doggie walkathon
- 5 km doggie walkathon
- 5 km timed run
The 5 km run is a timed event where top finishers receive medals. Due to safety regulations, dogs are not permitted to participate in the timed run section. However, well-behaved dogs on fixed leashes no longer than six feet are welcome to join the walking portions of the event. Retractable leashes are not allowed. All participating pets must be up to date on vaccinations and must not show aggressive behavior.
The event grounds feature several food vendors providing refreshments for attendees, as well as specialized treats and ice cream for dogs. Local vendors offer various goods and services throughout the day. The Blount County Animal Center also attends with dogs available for adoption. Registered participants in the 5 km run or walkathons receive an event t-shirt and a swag bag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
