Strides in Solidarity 5K
The Strides in Solidarity 5K is a community running event held at the University of Texas at Austin. Hosted by PIH Engage and AMSA, this race serves as a preparation event for the Longhorn Run. The course covers a distance of 3.3 miles and is centered around the Gregory Gym Plaza and Speedway.
Participants have the option to take part in a costume run during the event. Registration includes access to various amenities, such as water, Gatorade, bananas, and granola bars. The first 20 individuals to register receive a t-shirt and stickers. All participants are awarded trophies for their completion of the course, while specific medals are designated for the top three male and top three female finishers.
The event is organized to support health initiatives in Sierra Leone, specifically focused on tuberculosis programming. Registration fees are directed toward expanding access to early diagnosis and medical care in vulnerable communities. The event may also feature perks and giveaways from local businesses located in the Austin area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
