About the race
The Decker Challenge is a set of road races held in east Austin on December 13, 2026, at the Travis County Expo Center, 7311 Decker Ln. The event continues a local running tradition that began in 1979 when the Austin Runners Club organized the first race around Decker Lake. The 2026 event is the 48th annual Decker Challenge and is presented by Next Level Urgent Care. All finishers receive a long-sleeve technical fabric T-shirt and a Decker Challenge finisher's medal.
The Half Marathon includes a new edition finisher medal that changes color in sunlight. The Deck the Halls 5K Fun Run & Walk supports the Housing Authority of Travis County (HATC). HATC is a government housing agency funded by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development and provides housing assistance and supportive services. The 5K raises funds to assist HATC residents who are pursuing higher education, vocational training, or skill-building opportunities.
