Strides for Survivors
Strides for Survivors is an inaugural community 5K run and walk held at Wakemed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. The event is organized by a student from Enloe High School who previously participated in Camp Celebrate and who combined an interest in running with fundraising for burn survivor services.
Proceeds from the event benefit the aftercare program at the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center. The aftercare team runs annual events such as Camp Celebrate, Family Camp, Teenager Adventure Weekend, and an Adult Retreat to support burn survivors and their families. These programs serve hundreds of survivors and family members by offering ongoing social and recreational opportunities after medical treatment.
Funds raised support the Burn Center’s work in providing specialized medical care and rehabilitative services for patients recovering from burn injuries. The center also leads community education and burn prevention efforts, pursues research related to burn care, and develops programs that aim to help patients regain function and improve quality of life and safety across the state.
