About the race
The Strength to Serve Challenge is an obstacle and functional fitness race held on September 13, 2026, at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville, NY (7900 Green Lakes Road, 13066). The course covers approximately 3 miles and includes a total of 30 first-responder inspired challenges.
Obstacles mix running and terrain sections with strength and skill stations derived from firefighter and police training. Examples listed for the course include wall climbs, a balance beam while carrying a fire extinguisher, long jump to a beach pit, confined-space hose maze, floor stud crawl, push/pull sled, fire hose drag, car extrication tool carry, victim drags, a 170 lb dummy take down, and a high-rise pack carry. There are also timed or mental tasks such as quick STOP-sign reading challenges. Some obstacles offer easier or harder options, and several locations allow participants to choose between two tunnel routes or two heights for a trigger practice task.
If a participant cannot complete an obstacle, a penalty of 10 push-ups or 10 burpees applies. The event is described as built around teamwork, resilience, and community pride and is open to participants aged 12 and older. The listed registration price is $54 including a $4 fee. Waves of starters are organized every 10 minutes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
