Street Dog Hero Heroes on the Run 5K
The Street Dog Hero Heroes on the Run is a dog friendly 5K held in Portland on October 17, 2026. The route includes views of the city and a crossing of the Sellwood Bridge. The event brings together runners and their dogs and includes adoptable dogs on site as part of an adoption focus.
Activities on the event day include a community walk and a Dog Olympics. All 5K participants receive a medal and a t shirt. Vendors provide food and beverages near the finish area, where music is also part of the event atmosphere.
The event is produced by Street Dog Hero, whose mission is to serve dogs in need around the world through rescue, adoption, wellness, spay and neuter clinics, and education. The organization operates both local and international clinics and focuses on reducing overpopulation and improving veterinary access in communities with high need.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at Road Runner Sports in Tualatin. A course map is available for the 5K. The overall program combines running with on site adoption opportunities and educational work by the organizing charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
