STRC Trailfest at Newtown Battlefield SP
STRC Trailfest is a timed trail event at Newtown Battlefield State Park in Elmira, organized by the Southern Tier Running Club. The main format is a 3 hour timed challenge on a short loop course.
Participants complete repeats of a roughly one mile trail loop that gains about 300 feet of elevation per loop. Only loops finished before the three hour clock stops are counted. Participants may run, hike, or walk and may stop at any time; final results reflect completed loops within the time limit.
An aid station will be available at the start/finish area. Entries include access to the aid station and post-run food. Event swag and awards are part of the event package, including BOCO hats for participants, a finisher medal, and custom awards for male and female winners. Proceeds will support a local trail organization.
The event features a casual, family-friendly gathering after the run with grilled food including vegetarian and vegan options, a covered pavilion, picnic tables, a large field for games, a volleyball net, horseshoe pits, and space for yard games.
