About the race
STRC Trailfest at Sugar Hill is a timed loop trail event held at Sugar Hill State Forest in Watkins Glen, NY on September 5, 2026. The event uses a roughly four mile trail loop with about 500 feet of elevation gain per loop and offers three timed durations.

Participants run as many complete loops as they can within their chosen time limit. An aid station is located at the start/finish area and will be stocked for fueling and hydration. Entry includes access to the aid station, post-run food with vegetarian and vegan options, a custom BOCO Gear hat for participants, a finisher medal, and custom awards for male and female winners. A portion of proceeds will be donated to a local trails organization.
Entry fees are listed as $65 for the 3 hour event, $85 for the 6 hour event, and $100 for the 12 hour event. STRC membership is $10 and provides a $5 discount on entry.
The event is capped at 100 participants because parking is limited; parking on the road leading to the Fire Tower Area is not permitted. The Fire Tower Recreation Area includes 26 first-come, first-serve campsites and additional primitive sites and lean-tos elsewhere in the forest. Some facilities such as a pavilion, picnic tables, and seasonal restrooms with potable water are available in summer months. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
