STRAIN FOR THE BRAIN - Milwaukee
Strain for the Brain is an annual fundraising event held at Veterans Park in Milwaukee to honor people diagnosed with a brain tumor and to recognize their family and friends. The event raises funds for research, medical treatments, and support programs for individuals and families affected by brain tumors, a condition stated to affect 80,000 people each year.
The event includes multiple distance options:
- 1 Mile Walk - $30
- 5K - $30
- Survivor - 1 Mile Walk - free
- Survivor - 5K - free
The course at Veterans Park follows mostly paved park paths with gentle turns and minimal elevation change. The route is described as scenic with space for participants and locations where friends and family can watch.
Event services include on-site packet pickup on race day and an early packet pickup to be determined. There is one aid station on course that participants pass twice; participants are encouraged to carry a water bottle or collapsible cup to reduce waste. Age-group awards are given as custom medals to the top three male and female finishers in five-year age groups. A silent auction will be held with winners required to be present to claim items.
Participants with financial limitations may contact the organizers to request a fee waiver. Volunteer roles include aid station support and course marshaling. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
