About the race
Strain for the Brain is an annual Milwaukee event organized by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that honors people diagnosed with a brain tumor and the family and friends who support them. The event began in 2010 and is held on the lakefront at Veterans Park, 1010 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive, Milwaukee, WI. Funds raised support research, medical treatments, and support programs for individuals and families affected by brain tumors. Since 2010 the organization has donated over $750,000 to the brain tumor program at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin.
The event features multiple in-person runs and walks along with a virtual participation option. Select survivor categories have no registration fee; other in-person and virtual entries carry registration fees. Fee waivers are available for people with financial limitations.
Event offerings include:
- 1 Mile walk and survivor 1 Mile walk
- 5K (3.1 miles) run, 5K walk and survivor 5K options
- 1K kids run
- Virtual entry for any distance
