Strain for the Brain
Strain for the Brain is an annual event in Milwaukee held to honor people diagnosed with a brain tumor and to recognize the family and friends who support them. The event is organized by a Milwaukee-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit first established in 2010 by a brain tumor survivor. Funds raised are directed to research, medical treatments, and support programs for people and families affected by brain tumors.
Since 2010, Strain for the Brain has donated over $750,000 to the brain tumor program at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin. The event has taken place at multiple Milwaukee locations and currently returns to Veterans Park at 1010 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive.
Event options include a mix of walking and running distances:
- 1 Mile Walk (1 mile)
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- Survivor 1 Mile Walk (1 mile)
- Survivor 5K (3.1 miles)
Standard registration fees are noted for the public events and survivor entries are offered without a fee. Persons with financial limitations are invited to contact the organizers to discuss a fee waiver.
