About the race
The Straightening The Path 5K is a fundraiser for scoliosis held at WakeMed Cary Soccer Park in Cary, NC. The event raises money and awareness for early detection, education, and support for people affected by scoliosis, with net proceeds going to the National Scoliosis Foundation. The event offers timed and untimed 5K entries and a virtual supporter option that includes a mailed t-shirt and swag bag. Registered participants, virtual supporters, and teams are eligible for event items; t-shirt sizes are guaranteed for registrations completed by June 14.
Team discounts apply for groups of 10 or more and larger teams receive a greater discount. Registration fees vary by entry type; base prices include a standard fee for timed and untimed 5K entries, a reduced fee for ages 12 and younger, and a virtual supporter fee that covers mailing. Packets can be picked up at the race site on race morning. The organizer reported previous-year participation, sponsor numbers, and funds raised as context for the event. Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers and to the top three finishers (male and female) in these age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.
Award recipients must be present to receive their award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
