Scenic 7, Stowmarket
The Scenic 7 is a 7 miles road race held from Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre through Suffolk countryside. The course is described as relatively flat with only a couple of undulations and follows a route through Onehouse and Harleston, including a three-mile loop before returning along the same roads to the finish.
Runners assemble in the Stowmarket High School car park and are directed to a warm up area on the school playing fields. The official start is on Onehouse Road in front of the High School. For safety, the use of audio equipment with earphones is not permitted during the race.
Advance entry fees are listed as Affiliated £16 and Unaffiliated £18, and entrants must be aged 16 or over on race day. The event is sponsored by Mid Suffolk Physiotherapy and holds a certificate of course accuracy (SEAA 23/219); a UK Athletics road race licence number is listed as TBC.
Prizes are awarded for first, second and third male and female overall, plus first-place veteran category awards across several age bands and team prizes for men and ladies (three to score). A memento is available to all finishers. Race headquarters at the Leisure Centre provides changing, toilets, showers, a staffed bag storage area, refreshments and a cafe; one water station is located on the route.
