Scenic 7
The Stowmarket Striders Scenic 7 is a road race through the countryside of Suffolk. The event features a single distance:
- 7 miles
The course is relatively flat with a few undulations. It begins at the Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre and passes through Onehouse and Harleston. The route includes a three-mile loop back to Harleston before returning along the same path toward the finish line. For safety reasons, the course closes after a set time, and participants may not have marshal support beyond that point.
The event is open to runners aged 16 and over on race day. Technical regulations prohibit the use of audio equipment with earphones to ensure participants can hear traffic and marshal instructions. Participants must collect their race numbers from the headquarters on the day of the event.
Race headquarters are located at the Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, which provides changing facilities, toilets, showers, and a bag storage area. Limited parking is available at the leisure centre and Stowmarket High School. A warm-up area is provided on the high school playing fields. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as winners in various veteran age categories and team competitions. All finishers receive a memento.
