Event Overview
The Stowmarket Scenic 7 is a 7-mile road race organized by Stowmarket Striders. The event is held in Suffolk.
Course Details
The course is described as relatively flat with only a couple of undulations. It starts at the Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre on Gainsborough Road in Stowmarket. The route goes through the villages of Onehouse and Harleston, makes a three-mile loop back to Harleston, and then returns via Onehouse to the finish. The race has a UK Athletics Road Race Licence. For safety, the course will close at 11:30 AM, and runners may continue without marshal support after this time.
Participant Information
The event is open to competitors aged 16 or over on race day. Prizes are awarded for the top three male and female finishers, as well as for various veteran age categories for both men and women. There are also team prizes for men's and ladies' teams, with three runners to score. All finishers receive a memento. Water is available at one stop along the route.
Venue & Logistics
The race headquarters, start, and finish are at the Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre (IP14 1LH). Facilities include changing rooms, toilets, showers, a bag storage area (items left at runner's own risk), a bar, and a cafe. Limited parking is available at the leisure centre and Stowmarket High School; car sharing is encouraged, and marshals provide parking instructions. A two-minute silence is observed at 11:00 AM in support of the Poppy Appeal. The use of audio equipment with earphones is not permitted during the race.
