Scenic 7 : Stowmarket Striders
The Scenic 7 is a 7 mile road race that follows a route through Suffolk countryside. The course is described as relatively flat with a couple of undulations. It starts at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, runs through Onehouse and Harleston, includes a three mile loop around Harleston, then returns along the same route to the finish.
Runners assemble in the Stowmarket High School car park behind the Leisure Centre and will be led to the start on Onehouse Road by race marshals to reduce traffic disruption. A warm up area is available on the high school playing fields. There is one water stop along the route. The use of audio equipment with earphones is not permitted. The course has a certificate of accuracy SEAA 23/219 and a UK Athletics road race licence number is listed as TBC.
Prizes are awarded to first, second and third male and female overall. First place awards are also given in veteran categories: men over 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70 plus; women over 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70 plus. Men’s and ladies team prizes are decided on three to score. All finishers receive a memento. Entrants must be aged 16 or over on race day. Advance entry fees are quoted as Affiliated £16 and Unaffiliated £18; the organiser operates a general non refundable policy with the option to transfer a place by a published deadline.
