Scenic 7 - Stowmarket Striders
The Scenic 7 is a road race of 7 mile distance organised by Stowmarket Striders in Suffolk. The course is described as relatively flat with only a couple of undulations. The route starts at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, runs through Onehouse and Harleston, makes a roughly three mile loop near Harleston, and returns along the same route through Onehouse to the finish.
The event is open to competitors aged 16 or over on race day. Prizes are awarded to the first three men and first three women overall, with additional first place prizes in multiple veterans categories for both men and women. Team prizes are offered for men’s and ladies teams with three to score. A memento is available to all finishers.
Race facilities at the Leisure Centre include changing, toilets and showers; the venue also offers a bar, cafe and a swimming pool for which an additional fee may apply. A warm up area is provided on the Stowmarket High School playing fields behind the Leisure Centre and runners are asked to assemble in the high school car park prior to going to the start on Onehouse Road. One water station is located on the course. Use of audio equipment with earphones is not permitted for safety reasons. The course holds a certificate of accuracy SEAA 23/219 and a UK Athletics road race licence number is listed as pending. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
