Event overview
The Stort30 is a 30 mile ultramarathon organised by Challenge Running Ltd. The race starts and finishes at Bishop's Stortford Running Club (Hockerill Sports and Social Club), Beldams Lane, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire. The course is an out-and-back run of 15 miles each way along the River Stort and Lee navigation. Cut-off times are set at 3.5 hours at the halfway point and 7 hours overall. Participants must be 18 or over on race day.
Course, services and rules
The route is mostly grassy trail and graded footpath, with a short section on footpaths/tarmac at the start and a short section near the finish. Around 12 miles can be muddy or slippery when wet. A diversion at Fieldes Weir is included in the route description and GPX file. Checkpoints are located approximately every 5 miles and provide water, squash, basic sweets and snacks, with some vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options but possible cross-contamination. The event is cupless; participants must carry their own drinking vessel. There is no mandatory kit listed. The clubhouse offers toilets, changing, showers and baggage storage; there is no parking at the clubhouse and participants are asked to use the local train station car park.
