Stort30
Stort30 is a 30 mile trail ultra held from a clubhouse in Bishop's Stortford, running along the River Stort and Lee navigations on the Hertfordshire—Essex border. The course is an out and back of 15 miles each way, mostly grassy trail and graded footpath with short tarmac sections at the start and finish. In wet conditions up to about 12 miles of riverside trail can be muddy and slippery.
Checkpoints are provided approximately every 5 miles with water, squash, basic snacks and occasional hot items. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options may be available but cross contamination cannot be guaranteed; runners may bring their own supplies. A GPX file and written route description are available as backup and there will be signage before and after turns.
Timing is electronic with finish results posted online as finishers cross the line; there is no live runner tracking. Cut offs are enforced at the halfway turnaround (4 hours) and at 8 hours overall; runners over the halfway cut off will be stopped and transported back to the start/finish. All finishers receive a medal and trophies are awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers.
There is no parking at the clubhouse except drop off and pick up; parking is advised at Bishop's Stortford station and a short walk to the venue. The event is cupless so runners must carry a drinking vessel. Entrants must be 18 or over. Entry fees vary by date with normal price at £55 and limited early discount places, and on the day entries possible at £60. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
