Event overview
The event is a 30 mile ultramarathon held from Bishop's Stortford Running Club (Hockerill Sports and Social Club), Beldams Lane, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire. The course is an out-and-back along the River Stort and Lee navigation, with 15 miles each way. All finishers receive a race medal. Trophies are awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers. Entrants must be 18 or over on race day.
Course and logistics
The route is mostly grassy trail and graded footpath, with only the first half mile and last half mile on tarmac or footpath. The course is described as flat and mostly good underfoot, but about 12 miles can be muddy and slippery when wet. Signage is placed before and after turns and a GPX file and written route description are available as backup. Checkpoints are located approximately every 5 miles and provide water, squash, basic sweets and snacks, and some hot food options; vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options may be available but cross contamination cannot be guaranteed. There are no toilets on the route; toilets, changing, showers and baggage storage are available at the clubhouse.
Cut-offs are enforced: runners who exceed the half-way cut-off at 15 miles or the final cut-off will be stopped and transported back to the start/finish. The race is electronically timed with live results at finish. There is no live tracking. Mandatory kit is none, though appropriate clothing and footwear are recommended. Parking at the clubhouse is not available for race parking; drop-off only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
