Cate's Run

Cate's Run is a scenic, mostly flat 10 km run and walk through the Hertfordshire countryside. The course starts and finishes at The Chauncy School and comprises two loops of 5 km, including a stretch alongside the River Lea and one stile. The route is fully signed and marshalled and access to the tow path was granted by the Canal and Rivers Trust.

The event is held in memory of the person it commemorates and raises funds and awareness for PAPYRUS UK. All profits go directly to the charity; participants receive a PAPYRUS wristband and information about how contributions support the helpline. There is also an option to make an additional voluntary donation. Last year the event raised over £5000.

Open to runners and walkers aged 16 and over, the event uses a mass start with participants grouped by predicted finish time. Runners and walkers are asked to complete the course within 2 hours and 30 minutes. Maximum entrants are 250 and entries close on 03/08/2026; there are no on-the-day entries, refunds, or deferrals.

Race day facilities include toilets, changing rooms, hot showers at event HQ, informal bag storage, water at the halfway point and at the start and finish, and qualified first aiders. Every finisher receives a full-colour Cate's Run medal. Bone conduction headphones only are permitted and dogs and smoking are not allowed on the school site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
