Stop the Silence 5K Walk/Run : Houston, Texas
The Stop the Silence 5K Walk/Run is an annual event hosted by Sisters Network Inc., held in April at Tom Bass Regional Park - Section 1 in Houston, Texas. The 2026 edition is the 16th annual event and is presented as the first and only national breast cancer walk hosted by a black-led organization for black women. The event aligns with National Minority Health Awareness month.
The program raises funds for a Breast Cancer Assistance Program (BCAP) that pays for 3D mammograms for uninsured women and provides financial assistance to breast cancer survivors who are currently in treatment. Over the past 15 years the event has drawn participants from across the United States.
There are three entry types, each covering a 5 kilometer distance: individual, team and kids. Registration details in 2026 include the following fees: individual registration $45, team registration $450 for a new team with adjusted fees for joining existing teams, and kids registration $20. Individual and team registration opens February 24, 2026 and closes March 20, 2026; kids registration opens December 16, 2025 and closes April 18, 2026. To be guaranteed a t-shirt, registrants must enter names and sizes by March 23, 2026; teams must enter all ten names and sizes by that date. Kids T-shirt sizes are not available.
