16th Annual Stop the Silence 5K Walk/Run
The Stop the Silence National African American Breast Cancer 5K Walk/Run is a national event hosted by Sisters Network Inc. Established in 2010, this event is recognized as a national breast cancer walk organized by a black-led organization specifically for black women. The event takes place in April to coincide with National Minority Health Awareness month.
The event is held at Tom Bass Regional Park - Section 1 in Houston, Texas. Historically, the walk has attracted over 4,000 participants from across the United States who gather to honor and celebrate black women diagnosed with breast cancer.
Participants can register for the following distances and categories:
- 5K Individual Walk/Run
- 5K Team Walk/Run
- 5K Kids Walk/Run
The proceeds from the event support the Karen E. Jackson Breast Cancer Assistance Program (BCAP). This national initiative provides funding for 3D mammograms for uninsured women and offers financial assistance to breast cancer survivors who are actively undergoing treatment. Participants who register by March 23, 2026, are eligible for a guaranteed t-shirt, although t-shirt sizes are not available for the Kids Walk/Run category.
