Stonington 6 Race

The Stonington 6 Race is an annual athletic event held during the Fourth of July weekend in Stonington, Maine. Organized to benefit the Island Community Center, the event provides participants with the choice of attending an in-person race or participating virtually from any location. The physical race takes place at the Island Community Center located at 10 Memorial Lane.

Participants can choose from the following event distances:

  • 10K (In-person)
  • 1 Mile Fun Run (In-person)
  • Virtual 10K
  • Virtual 1 Mile Fun Run

For those attending the in-person event, early online registration is recommended. Participants can pick up their race materials, including t-shirts and bib numbers, at the Island Community Center by the Friday preceding the Fourth of July. Walkers are permitted to participate and are instructed to line up at the back of the starting group. Race day registration is also available thirty minutes before the start of the events.

Virtual participants select their own routes and set personal goals for their distance. Those who register for the virtual option can choose to have their shirts mailed to their location or arrange for local pickup. Participants in the virtual categories often share their progress and routes via social media. Individuals who do not wish to run or walk can still contribute to the Island Community Center through registration and donations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
