Stonington 6 Race : Stonington, Maine
The Stonington 6 is an annual running event in Stonington, Maine held over the Fourth of July weekend at the Island Community Center, 10 Memorial Lane. The event offers both an in-person race and a virtual option that lets participants run or walk from their chosen route.
For in-person participants, organizers strongly recommend registering early and online. Participants may pick up their race number and t-shirt at the Island Community Center by the Friday before the Fourth; if that is not possible, organizers can arrange alternative plans. Runners and walkers check in at the center before their start time, and walkers are asked to line up at the back of the pack.
Virtual participants choose their own route and a personal distance goal for the Fourth of July. Registered virtual entrants can request a t-shirt to be mailed by selecting the ship my shirt add-on, or they can pick up a shirt at the center by the Friday before the race. Orders placed within two weeks of the event cannot be guaranteed to arrive before the holiday. Virtual participants are invited to share photos, routes, and distances on the event Facebook page using #Stonington6 and #Stonington 600.
Those not running may still support the Island Community Center by registering and making a donation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
