Sterling Down and Dirty 5K : Stratford, CT
The Sterling Down and Dirty 5K is an obstacle-based fun run held at Short Beach on Dorne Drive in Stratford, Connecticut. The course is approximately 5 km long and features more than 18 obstacles that involve water, sand, mud, and climbing or crawling elements. Participants receive a race shirt and a finisher medal as part of registration.
The event is a fundraiser for the Sterling Community Center. Proceeds support the Sterling Food Pantry, youth development, and youth programs. The event allows group registrations and offers a group discount of five dollars per person for groups of four or more registered together.
Age and participation rules are set for safety: children aged 8 to 11 must run with a registered adult; participants under 8 are not permitted to run and may attend only as supervised spectators. Waivers for participants under 18 must be signed by a legal guardian. Spectators are welcome.
Practical details include designated parking with no charge, and an advisory to allow up to 45 minutes to park and walk to check in. There is no bag check; valuables should be left in vehicles or with spectators. Animals are not allowed on site. Items not permitted on the course include headphones, baby carriages, weapons, fireworks, and coolers.
