Steps Toward a Cure: Michigan 5k, Kids Fun Run, and Walk
The Dravet Syndrome Foundation presents the 4th Annual Steps Toward a Cure event on September 12, 2026 at Kensington Metropark, North Martindale Picnic Shelter, 4570 Huron River Parkway, Milford MI 48380. The event supports research funding and patient advocacy for Dravet syndrome and related conditions.
The event program includes these distances and formats:
- 5k
- Kids fun run
- 1 mile family walk
Activities will be available at the picnic area, including kid friendly games and a silent auction. Bagels and coffee are offered in the morning, and a lunch will be available later. All registered participants receive an event T shirt; all 5k participants receive a participant medal. Participants must register before August 11 to guarantee a T shirt.
Entry fees listed for the event include Adult Walkers $35 and Kids (ages 3 to 17) $20. Individuals with Dravet syndrome or epilepsy may register for free with a paying adult.
Dravet syndrome is described as a rare and catastrophic form of epilepsy beginning in childhood and is associated with behavioral and developmental delays, sleeping difficulties, orthopedic conditions, sensory integration disorders, and a documented 15 to 20 percent risk of SUDEP.
