Steps for STEM 5K
The Steps for STEM 5K is a run and walk event held on May 9, 2026 in Papillion, NE at Walnut Creek Lake. The Greater Omaha Chapter of AFCEA organizes the event and uses proceeds to support its ongoing STEM scholarship and grant programs for students and teachers in the Omaha metropolitan area.
Participants register online in advance; registrations are final and cannot be transferred. Registration pricing increases at scheduled dates from an initial amount through several stepped increases, and there is a higher fee for participants who register on race day. The event provides race shirts for all participants and awards for top finishers. The top overall male and female 5K runners each receive a $100 gift card, and medals are awarded to top male and female finishers in age groups, excluding the overall winners. Awards are presented near Gold Coast Road at Walnut Creek Park.
Packet pickup is available the day before and on race day at Gold Coast Road (Circle), Walnut Creek Park, Papillion NE. Race timing will be performed by a professional timing service and results will be posted online and distributed by email after the event. Water is available at the start and finish area but not along the course. Strollers are permitted. Volunteers aged 13 and older are welcome, with younger youth allowed if supervised.
