Steps for STEM 5K 2026
The Greater Omaha Chapter AFCEA Steps for STEM 5K is a community 5K run and walk held on May 9, 2026, at Walnut Creek Lake in Papillion, Nebraska. The event supports the chapter's scholarship and STEM grants programs and promotes health, wellness, and camaraderie among participants. Membership in AFCEA is not required to participate.
The course follows the Walnut Creek running trail. The trail is not a flat track and offers scenic views along the route. Digital timing will be provided by Precision Race Results; official results will be posted online and participants will receive a results email the afternoon of the event. Top overall male and female finishers each receive a $100 gift card, and medals are awarded to top male and female finishers in age group categories; overall winners are excluded from age group awards.
Registration must be completed online prior to race day. A tiered fee schedule applies depending on registration period, with higher fees for later registration. Participants who have not pre-registered and come on race day will be charged a higher walk-up fee and will not be officially timed. Race day shirts and bibs are provided; shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after April 17. The event is held rain or shine and entry fees are nonrefundable. Free parking is available. No bicycles, skates, or skateboards are allowed. The event is stroller friendly and children in strollers are not charged. The Greater Omaha Chapter is recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization and donations to the scholarship and grants program are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
